Sometimes I get messages from fans of Lucy and also asked about raising our boxer friends. I am sorry to say that although the white boxer is not a rare phenomenon, the raising of white boxer is not sanctioned by any group of kennels.

In the past, most kennels and breeders raised a puppy white because they do not meet the standards of the Boxer breed. Other reasons for not wanting to raise a white are the problems associated physical boxer may encounter. It is reported that the gene that produces white flash in the boxer breed is associated with deafness. A white is in fact a fawn or brindle boxer with a white flash heavy. Nearly 18% of all white boxers have hearing loss in one or both ears actually a special needs dog. Fortunately for us our white "Lucy" does not have hearing problems yet.

Please do not let anything I wrote here discourage you to have a white boxer. They are pets and family dogs therapy. Best of all is the first feature you get with a boxer who is in the heart of a clown, but that for another article.
