The Pekingese or Peke is an ancient breed of toy dog. Originally from China, they were venerated as semi-divine by the Chinese. They display dignity, a haughty attitude and bravery worthy their Chinese origin. They are also commonly called a "Lion Dog", "Pelcher Dog" or "Foo (or Fu) Dog "because of their resemblance to lions guards who chased the Chinese minds. Friendly and affectionate, these little companions are well suited for a variety of environments.
