Ask any "60's Child" what comes to mind when you talk about San Francisco and they are certain to say "area Haight-Ashbury District. If one area of this old city evoke various images of the 60s this field must be the only one to do. Here is the beginning of the hippie culture was growing by leaps and bounds as children of the flowers sold their wares on the busy street, we could smell the incense each corner and garment-dyed wild was so popular at the time.

A brisk walk around the block reveals smoke shops and many retail outlets Eastern influence bore names such as "Dreams of Kathmandu," "The Love of Ganesha" and "Pipe Dreams". Unfortunately, these relics of the 60s, but all are forgotten and we left the scene forever. The Haight has today a totally new image from what it was 50 years ago. The region now has exclusive boutiques, shops clothes at high prices, many second hand shops, and cafes with modern Internet connections and an abundance of restaurants offering a food taste delicious of all sections of the continent. The Haight-year-old has become very commercial.

A walk on Haight Avenue reveals the changes that have been made to date and the new clientele that fills the void. These new clients range from neo-punk for fun, the club kids looking for things to do various Fashionita with time on their hands, hoping that tourists perceive the past 60 long and the neighborhood people off, everyone feels comfortable here. They may be here for a new body piercing, perhaps take a burrito Mexico, maybe they are looking for a new music CD or just out for a cup of espresso coffee from the corner.

Keep in mind that there are two different areas of Haight. You Upper Haight, which stretches from Masonic to Stanyan. This the commercial shopping area while the Lower Haight is a type more diverse neighborhood. Although it displays an alternative lifestyle Nightlife with bars with names Noc Noc or as Mad Dog and the most popular clubs such as Up or Nicks. It is now a magnet for DJs and attracts those in search of music Dance - record stores or clubs such as the above.

During the day, the attitude in the Haight is basically laid back and it seems that many people are just hanging around the cafes or bookstores. The area has its share of panhandlers and tourists. Weekends in the region can become very crowded with buyers in full force during the day and bar spectators roaming around at night. You may notice many of the homeless camp near the entrance of Golden Gate Park where they trail around the Upper Haight area, however should you walk by them they do not apply any change or provide you with a friendly smile.

If you are a fan of 60's that you just may be a little disappointed with your visit here, but if you look you are sure discovered many interesting things to do and places to visit while in the district of Haight-Ashbury. It is worth the detour.
