Of the owners The Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site is owned and operated by Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg, co-owners of CharityUSA.com (parent company of GreaterGood Network). Longtime friends and activists, they met at the University of Michigan while working on the campaign of Michigan vote Bottle Bill in 1976. In the late 1990s, they recognized that broad consumer adoption of the Internet offers a new opportunity to collect funds for good causes. As enthusiastic supporters of the Hunger Site, they realized the power of providing busy Internet users a fast, free and easy make a difference and launched EcologyFund.com give people the means to support efforts for wilderness preservation around the world. They launched The Animal Rescue Site in July 2002.

Tim Kunin is a life-long lover of wilderness who has canoed and traveled thousands of miles in the United States, Canada and Patagonia. He started working for environmental causes at the University of Michigan, where he walked 200 miles across the state to publicize the need for recycling. He has a wife, two children and a dog, Scout.

Tim has traveled extensively to visit partners charity and buy some of Fairtrade products available on our sites. It is believed that the craftsmen creating a market for products manufactured by rural women is the best method of reducing inter-generational poverty. Tim travels took him to Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Sweden, England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, South Africa, Israel, India and Afghanistan. Tim bought a single product in each country who can in turn be purchased Web stores here.

Greg Hesterberg was chairman of two consumers statewide and environmental organizations (and MaryPIRG PIRGIM), while in college. After 20 years running a successful publishing firm, Greg enjoys finding innovative ways to make world a better place. Greg: two cats for many years, Tony and Junior have bequeathed. In November 2007, Greg has adopted two kittens sister, Callie and Chloe. Their younger brother was the last of the litter that had not been adopted, and Greg could not leave him behind, so now Callie and Chloe spend their days playing with each other and with their brother Casey also.
