Are there any organizations that meet the shelter dogs with the potential of service dogs in training programs?

I wonder if there is an organization in existence which are dogs in shelters and tests and recommends to the training of seeing eye, police, dogs service or another? Is there something like that? How do these training programs generally find animals to train? An organization that has no value / would it even be possible to start something like that? Any input would be helpful! Thank you!

Over there is not "a" group which coordinates such activities, but many service dog trainers and organizations use shelter dogs. Dogs For The Deaf uses shelter dogs a majority of their candidates. exceptions are guide dog schools, because of the harshness of guidework. Most all schools have their guide AKC own broodstock. Just as a note to clarify: Police K-9, military, scent detection, treatment, emotional support, and livestock others are not service dogs, they are classified as working dogs.
