Parvovirus is a virus first identified in 1978 that spread worldwide in just two years. Over the years, the virus has mutated into two distinct strains and there is Evidence of a third strain in Spain, Italy and Vietnam.

All cases of canine parvovirus or CPV comes from the first two strains. We thought the virus could mutate into feline panleukopenia, a feline parvovirus but this proved false. All species have their own parvovirus but it is not spread outside of the case.

It is obvious that parvovirus can not be transmitted from a cat or a dog a bird to a cat. However, it can spread by contact. For example, if your cat will go through your neighbor \ 's court and picked up the virus on its feet it can track from inside your house and infect your dog.

My neighbor \ 's puppy contracted parvo virus. The puppy had all classic dog parvo symptoms, but my neighbor does not really know that until it was wrong, fortunately taken the puppy to the vet. Once he did, the treatment began immediately. If he tried a home remedy for parvo puppy, the puppy is not likely to have survived. The parvo virus works two ways, either through the gut or the heart. When a dog receives an intestinal infection, he is captured by an animal oral contact with contaminated feces. In other words, your dog should come into contaminated feces from another dog.

The intestinal dog parvo symptoms occur when the virus attacks the bone marrow, rapidly dividing cells in intestinal crypts and lymph nodes. This allows normally occurring bacteria from the intestine into the blood flow to the septic animals.

The virus can be eliminated in stool for up to three weeks, so this is a highly contagious for animals that were not inoculated.

The heart shape of this infection is often seen in puppies that are infected from the womb or shortly after birth. It is worth noting that cardiac form of CPV is not as common since the mother passes immunity to the puppies from birth. The parvo virus then attacks the heart in the infected pup and death results shortly thereafter.

Dog Parvo Symptoms usually appear within 3 to 10 days of contact. They include include lethargy, vomiting, fever and diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause severe dehydration and secondary infections. The dog not usually die of the virus, but a secondary infection.

The survival rate depends on how quickly parvo virus is diagnosed and treatment is started. If the virus is not caught early, treatment is normally given by an IV line in which fluids are pushed to rehydrate the puppy or dog more quickly.

In addition to giving fluids, anti-nausea and antibiotic shots May intramuscularly as an effective treatment parvo. Given proper care, the prognosis is good, but if care is withheld your dog will die prematurely.
