For 17 consecutive years, the Labrador Retriever breed dog's favorite American, depending on registration numbers with the American Kennel Club. The laboratory is generally loving, playful and very intelligent breed. The original Labrador Retriever was Newfoundland. Exactly how the race came to live in Newfoundland is not known. The first accounts of the race was in 1822.
Over the years, the Labrador Retriever was used as guide dogs for blind, deaf and other disabled people because of their trainability, temperament, intelligence and social alienation. Labs have been used in nursing homes for the elderly and emotionally challenged children and adults. military and many police squads use race to track criminals, weapons, bombs, drugs, and to find people buried in earthflows and snow.
The laboratory score is best known for their love of hunting. They have a big nose who get easily attracted by the smell, They are powerful swimmers in difficult conditions, and have a natural instinct to point. Pointing Labradors are strong in upland hunting and waterfowl.
The Lab is easy to train and eager to please. Most laboratories can start training command 6 to 7 months. We usually recommend short session 7 to 10 minutes 2 to 3 times per day. Remember that your dog needs regular exercise. Plan to walk your dog daily. Play ball with your dog gives the lab a chance to play and exercise. Keep your dog trim and not overfed.
Always buy from a reputable breeder. A good breeder will provide a health certificate, make sure the puppy has had all appropriate plans, they should be AKC registered, and they will provide a family tree.
