What is the best hunting dog for children?

What is the best breed of hunting dog around children. My friend wants to get his son a hound they train together and use as it is to teach his son hunting. The boy is 10. My friend is going start by teaching her son tracking skills ... it will be several years before he used a firearm. Anyways they looking into Coonhound far, they are thinking: Redbone Coonhound Blue Tick Coonhound Black and Tan Coonhound What are the best dogs for hunting boy? Thank you (They asked me because they consider me an expert of dogs in this group, but I told him that I know nothing About Hounds) Hound suggestions would be great

Oh, that thinking about my favorite childhood book Where the Red Fern Grows. Nevertheless or must it be a Coonhound? I ask because I would like to suggest a Basset, which are bred for hunting rabbits and are fabulous with children. There are clubs Hunting Basset assets out there that have links to training and conduct field trials, etc.
