My Great Pyrenees dog who sleeps during the past 18 hours. What is the problem?
He slept at 11 pm and now its 5 pm, but he continues still sleeping. Should I wake him? I woke him and he got pretty surprised. he nearly bit my hand in the process. I was at work the Most of the day, and I asked the woman on the dog. She said he was awake and sometimes slept all day. I gave food and took it. However, he disappeared again into sleep mode. Lately, it switches to sleep much. He has 1 year. Should I take the LRU to find why so often he sleeps all day?
He is tired?!?! Is it apathy (eyes dull, difficult to wake, etc.), then YES - bring in Vet. While it is easy to wake up while it is probably fine. You say he slept from 11pm - 5pm. . . . right through the night? Are you sure he slept the whole night? Maybe he was awake when you sleep?!?! He led Long Haul interstate half - It will often take a couple of dogs with him. Between his behavior and sleep can sometimes go up to 30 hours in the truck with only a few stops to go the bathroom and meals. Dogs usually sleep most of the time no dramas, despite the dog is high energy.
