Adopt a dog a German Shepherd rescue center?
I tried to ring up the shelter about this, but his has been engaged or unanswered, so I will try here a while, see what people think, I've never had a German shepherd before, but I have always wanted. I want to give a rescue dog a home, but looking at all the rescue sites, most of DLG say they need "experienced owners of the breed" Is it better to start with a GSD from a breeder? to get used to the race, and then adopt again experience? Rescue dogs or may be ok if they are not particularly "dog" problem? would be a specific age be a factor? I am certainly open to adopting other types of dog, or a cross GSD, I'm just curious, and I know he DLG are many who need a good home. I had that cocker far lol! it would be a little change! but I did lot of research on race and his training techniques, etc.
I do not see why we could not take a GSD as long as you have done your research (you) and enter the dog to a good obedience class immediately. I have a golden retriever and class that he attends are usually four GSDS. They are all becoming very wise dogs, although much work has been devoted to training in some cases. However, I had a challenge of equal Brodie Getting my act because it is a great dog for his race and quite a handful. I took a gold because I could not decide between them and a GSD then went to the race I thought was "easier" to form. What I mean is everything depends on the individual. You could also try a rescue GSD specific because they are more likely to have a rescue GSD that is behavior (caused lack of training) is not the cause of it was in rescue, but is a nice dog who just had a bad time, for example, his family has developed an allergy or could not afford to keep it (which happens a lot in the current economic climate).
