Weight: 33-55 lbs
Height: 21-24 cm Male, Female 19-22 inches
Overview
The Barbet Dog is medium French hound. It is believed that the Barbet dog was the first original Water Dog breed. The origin of this breed is not fully known, but it is probably through the breeding stock dogs and some cats. These dogs are not well known outside of France. This race is very capable, recovery, and is used for hunting waterfowl and also as devoted companions.
Temperament
This race is extremely intelligent and keen on learning. These dogs enjoy working, and is also eager to please their owners. You find this race to be very calm, soft, gentle but very busy time. Some of these dogs in May, however, be very shy. Seeing it is a working dog, they love water and being involved in the recovery tasks. They are also very much like pet of the family. This race is not going well when confined to a kennel, as they will probably disappear in such an environment. It is recommended that these Dogs are taken for walks on a regular basis so they can have the chance to exercise and enjoy themselves.
Care
The woolly coat of Barbet dog has very great needs grooming. You will find that the coats of these dogs are tangled fairly easy, especially when the dogs will in the water very often. For the cloak to develop properly, the puppy must be shaved completely when they are between four to six months. If the hair is shaved at regular intervals, the layer will also grow thicker. The poodle dog must have a thick woolly coat so it will be used for entertainment. A cloak used for these purposes should not have mats or knots. Special attention should be paid to the ears these dogs, and hairs inside them must be removed.
Training
The Barbet is a dog who learns quickly. They are also very sensitive to the voice of their masters that dogs love them please. It is also important to be consistent in the training of these dogs, as dogs do not take seriously what a manager is not an authority.
Health problems
Dog Barbet are likely to suffer health problems such as hip dysplasia, cataracts and skin allergies have been observed in some lines.
