How do I make a new dog Dommin in a house with a dominant dog exsisting?

We've had this dog for about 10 months. It is Chihuahua a year, and mix a sweet dog, but become aggressive whith strangers into his home. My friends have children and another dog very docile and they decided that rather than trying to train him, the need to get rid of him in May that means euthanasia. I think he can be rehabilitated. He tried to dominate our dog (Lab mix), but she wanted nothing of it and domination in place. Any advice would be apreciated.
