Walking on a bad idea for a puppy?

Without walking a puppy is a fantastic idea. Do not get discouraged when you start.

There are some things you should know before you start walking a puppy.

First, your puppy will not be used to a leash so it will be difficult. It will try and shoot you. This is normal. Do not let him win. You have control of the leash, use this control.

Secondly, your puppy will stop and smell everything. Again, this is normal. Let him sniff a little while tug on the leash so he knows you are in control of this walk and continue.

Thirdly, do not start to walk long distances. You have a puppy and he will not walk very long without tiring. Go for short walks. It will break in the dog and if you're not used to walking it will help you too.

Fourthly, walk a puppy will use this energy and you have a puppy calmer. Puppies, like children will be full of energy. Use this energy for good and you'll have fewer problems with your puppy do destructive stuff.

If you do not have a good book dog training video or do research and find one. Learn training techniques adequate and you will start on a good foot. Walking a dog is just the beginning of training a dog. This is a fun and rewarding to bond with your new four legged friend also.
