Anyone with experience with Great Pyrenees?
I have a Pyr 2 years I've had since I was 7 weeks old. She knows "sit" and "Down". I am receiving an unwanted, 1-year-old Female Pyr uneducated tomorrow. Ours must be a game and carry out because it is a climber up close, but I'd like to be tied with another dog loose in the yard. We have a patio that is 1 / 2 privacy 1 / 2 chain link and ours always escapes in the chain link portion of the fence. How effective would a containment system for the underground w / 2 p-as? With tenacious dog receivers? Only I want to do to keep safe because he escaped and was run over by a woman with a stick that he knew it was a friendly dog (although I was shouting that he would not harm, as chased down the street). What is your best advice to avoid being content? Also I live in a rental house so adding in the fence is not an option ... hotwire is not an option either because I have small children .......
My sister uses an electric fence. It is the only program to a perimeter instead of one with the power to bury. I could see how it works well if you set it up so it was a couple of feet into the regular fence. I do not recommend that if you really do not have a wall physical, but may be huge to keep the dog far enough away from the physical boundaries that can not dig under or climb. p-as are known by the artists who escape. They were originally bred to work very independently as guard dogs for sheep. Just enjoy long walks and explore .. I would suggest underground fence about a foot inside of you regular fence and taking them on longer walks outside the yard to explore. It is likely that news of his do have the same problem. That's pretty much the most common reason given to this caste. Keep them inside when you're not home, and when they are not going to check regularly to ensure they are not up to something. They are very smart dogs spend much time looking for an escape route. The trouble with them is just keep walking. The one I had that grow up and find some ten miles away still hiking. She would be happy as could be to get into the car, but a couple of days later get the itch to walk and do the same.
