do stomach ulcers heal itself if stomach acid is kept to a minmum how do u keep low for ulcers can heal?

I think my dog has stomach ulcers, I do not want to take him to the vet, unless I owe, can not afford to take. she had blood in his stool, but it disappeared for the most part, I should take it in anyway? The healing of an ulcer on their own? Should I donor him antacid or something. I want to avoid taking to the vet absoloutly unless necessary. it works fine and eating / drinking normally, but it has some blood in his stool. it is only 1 1 / 2 years old, German shepherd, who is larger than normal, could this be something to do with it?
