Did you know that the AKC (American Kennel Club) recognizes the 8 groups of dog breed? These include interest sports hound, working, terrier, toy, non-sporting, terrier and diverse groups.
The dogs are assigned to a specific group depending on why the dog was at the origin or race has been used for history. For example, dogs in group Livestock are well suited for rearing animals such as cows or sheep.
Over the years, man has worked to select and refine a number of specific traits desirable in a particular breed of dog to make him do any number of jobs. Beginning with wolves, the animals are less afraid of the man eventually became integrated into human society, becoming companions and workers finally able bodies. Hence, people have continued to create dogs that were best suited to meet the needs of man.
From large and powerful working dogs to serve as guards, tiny toy breeds of pets, dogs cover a wide range of sizes and attributes. Because of human intervention, there are breeds of dog varieties of any other mammal on earth today! Did you know are over 400 breeds of dog today and that the AKC recognizes over 150 of them?
The road to recognition AKC breed means prove first that there is sufficient national interest in the race, followed by admission to the diverse group, where they may compete limited competition in AKC. If a different breed of dog show enough interest and growth, it will be recorded in the AKC stud book and finally admitted to a regular group.
Once the full membership was granted, the breed of dog is allowed to participate all AKC events like obedience, Lure Coursing, Agility, etc. conformation show is one of the best known of all competitions sponsored by the AKC. In a dog show conformation, dogs are judged by experts opposed to a standard specific dog breed for characteristics such as size, color, gait and temperament. First dogs must compete with others of the same race, before moving to compete with dogs other races within the same group, eventually be envisaged to better show - which means that they are the best of the best for this particular case.
