What is the drug / chemical used in the development of a dog to sleep?
We just had to put a dog of my mother to today because of congestive heart failure. I was wondering, and can not find the answer elsewhere, that drugs / chemicals they used to euthanize. They used a sedative first, but the actual drug that has stopped its function was purple in color. Someone knows what it is? I think it was painless, but I would like to make my own Research!
I am very sorry for your loss. It could be one of the following; Sodium Pentothal, Phenabarbitol slowly or stop Demerol. They the heart beat. sedative is given to avoid waking the dog, or any pain she may get. Especially the drugs will not make your dog suffers pain at all, but the dog may suddenly wake up and see you there and then run it and cause yourself some pain. Therefore The sedative is given. I'm sorry about your loss, you can not imagine how sad it is to have a life in your hands, you know you have to put down. I'm sorry
