The Pekingese is a friendly, independent, small dog knees that activity will do well in an apartment or small house. They are very affectionate, but still make good watchdogs. They may be wary of other dogs, so they need to be extensively socialized early. They like older children but may not be happy with noisy young children. Special Health Considerations

Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Pekingese is no exception. She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly shots and check. Grooming

The Pekingese has a long cloak, coarse and straight with a soft, thick undercoat. They should be brushed every day. Also the eyes and ears should be cleaned and checked daily.
