Properly designed ventilation can reduce or eliminate odors, reduce the accumulation of bacteria and help maintain the fresh smell and clean the kennel. Your pet will be happier and youÂ'll spend less time trying to dry soil and eliminate odors. If you difficulties understanding the information contained in this article, please contact us on the Web at Sun Hill Pet Supplies.
Whatever the size of your installation, Ventilation plays a key role in the first impression visitors kennel. Simply put, the ventilation is controlled, directed movement of air.
Design Basics:
- Air exchange: change all the air in the room from four to six times an hour. Calculate the room volume in cubic feet, multiply the result by four, five or six years, then divide by sixty to find the air volume in CFM (cubic feet per minute).
- Exhaust pick-up points: most kennel odors are created the same level as the dogs if the position of your exhaust take points less than 30 inches to ensure odors are pulled down, away from your nose. However, no less than twelve inches from the ground to prevent cleaning water from entering the ventilation system.
- How Exhaust pick up points: multiple points throughout the room to ensure the flow of air has a chance to circulate properly. Remember that we not talking about the return-air system to your heating, weÂ're speaks exhaust vents to remove air from the room.
- Air Supply: Install your air vents, high in the room. This allows air to flow down to select the exhaust points, thereby pulling the odors down and away from your nose. Remember that the air supply must be filtered and tempered (heated or cooled), not to be believed outside air. Your HVAC contractor can install a unit that provides clean air sufficient in the ventilation system to meet the supply requirements.
- Position supply air and exhaust vents: vents feeding station in the aisle ways and exhaust take points behind the tracks in the walls and pipes coming on the walls. If the heating source is a  "Hot aira" system, having one third of the heated air introduced to the floor and introduced the two-thirds through the vents on the aisle ways.
- Type and design of the exhaust fan: YouÂ'll want to use a fan with a centrifugal wheel as the engine of air. Fans and blowers that use a blade similar to that of a fan window wonÂ't be able to overcome the static pressure created by ducts necessary to take multiple points
- Size of fan: Create a safety factor by multiplying the CFM you have calculated in step # 1, 1.5 to keep you moving enough air, then select the exhaust fan to move that amount of CFM to  ½ "static pressure or higher. The static pressure is the resistance to airflow, usually created by the duct system.
- Duct sizing: High velocity air in the system will ensure good airflow if the air ducts for about 2000 fpm (feet per minute) air velocity. The simplest approach sizing is to determine the size of the pipe needed to treat the total air flow, while the size of the facility that the primary channel, throughout the building. Determine how many drops as you want and divide the region's primary channel by the number of drops. Each drop is then sized to the area. Use this formula to determine the size of the main duct: (PCM / 1500fpm) x 144 = duct area in square inches
Information Form: a · http://www.Grainger.com is a great source for fans.
 · area radius of a circle squared times 3.14 ([rxr] x 3.14) Example of region 3A "round duct: (1.5 x 1.5) x 3.14 = 7.065 square inches
 · Convert inches square feet square: divide by 144 square inches. In the example above 7.065 inches square, divided by 144 =, 049 square feet.
Example:
1. Breeding room is 20 ft x 15 ft with a ceiling 10 feet high; 20 x 20 x 10 = 4000 cubic feet
2. Five (5) air changes per hour = 4000 x 5 = 20,000 cubic feet
3. Determine CFM (cubic feet per minute) 20,000 / 60 = 333 cfm
4. Air safety factor flow: 1. 5 x 333 = 500 cfm
5. Grainger's: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/2C946 This fan moves 537 CFM at  ½  "static pressure, and is only $ 165.38 and can be plugged into most outlets.
6. Canal primary square inches: (500cfm / 2000 ft / min) x 144 = 36 inch square duct. You could use 6Â'x 6A "square duct, or 7 a "round duct diameter.
