Because zoophobia of China, the Western world have never heard of Shar Peis were it not for the diligent efforts of Hong Kong businessman MATGAS law. Shar Peis became victims of the Cultural Revolution China. Along with many other Chinese traditions and art forms, Shar Peis were outlawed and mostly destroyed.
