The bark collars to work for dogs howling / whining?

My dog has been adopted today. A small darling. Perhaps a little too sweet. Each time he is left alone, even when I am on the porch to smoke, he began to moan and scream. I know there are anti-bark collars available, but to do this job howling? Whining is not so bad cuz the neihbours can not hear, but the howl will be a problem. I do not use shock collars, but I have heard of citronella collars that might work. They spray citronella into facing dogs face when they bark, so it does not hurt, just a few bugs. But I want to make sure it will work for a howl. So they scream for, and where is the cheapest I can get online? The place to find one is as important to me than whether they work. THANK YOU!

Try give your dog a Kong stuffed with peanut butter, each time you have to leave. Citronella can be benign, but may also create a memory, a fearful time, oddly enough. Try taking your dog on a leash with you when you go outside to smoke, or better yet, save some $ $ and quit. I invest in some ASAP positive reinforcement training classes to help your dog gain some confidence and peace of mind.
