Spring has arrived and with the arrival of warm weather, comes more dog shows and our annual holiday, more like doing a tour Sunday. However, we sometimes neglect the needs of our pets or do not take extra precautions for unseen emergencies. If you can not to board your pet, or leave home and find that you must take it with you please ensure that you provide a breakdown and adequate water in your vehicle. Plus you should read the heat stroke and heat stroke. Below is a simple checklist to ensure your pet is provided under normal circumstances and in case of emergency:

• a box at home or harness seatbelt
• 2 leashes (your usual one and a spare)
• necklace alternatives
• ample water for your pet, you and your vehicle
• a dish of water
• your pet first aid kit
• your first aid kit
• Tools for you vehicle
• brush to remove brambles and ticks
• pet food (if canned, store in a cooler if opened)
• toys to offset boredom (nothing worse than chewed upholstery)
• a tarp to shade, or park in a shady area

• a photo of your pet
• Make sure your pet is very familiar with the commands sit, remain, and future - a pet in an unfamiliar place can be nervous and may try to flee

• Sure your pet is current on vaccinations

I traveled a fair amount in North America and we found we receive emergency care for animals in the most unlikely places: a cat and kittens in a campground in Olympic National Park, an abandoned dog in a highway rest area, Texas, a mother dog and puppies in California. Plus there always seems to have someone with a dog that has exposure not bring enough water. I had dog collars get lost in the bushes and leashes break on beaches. It seems I'm never prepared myself enough for unforeseen emergencies, but taking precautions above will make the trip a little more peaceful.
