What is the best dog breed small family?

My husband and I are thinking about adding a dog to our little apartment family. We think a yorkie / poo or yorkie mix otherwise. We do not have children yet but plan on it and I want a dog that is good with children. Any advice?

Yorkies are great, but I personally like the Maltese since I live in an apartment. They are small and non shedding so they do not feel bad, so they not need much exercise, just a short walk around the block or something. They are very cuddly and affectionate and calm, they are also great and patient with children, my family, even trusts put babies on the floor with my little Maltese because it is so good. As a warning, York may be a little hyper, but they are very kind and loving too. Hope this helps
