Lack of training
With only rare exceptions there are no dogs are born aggressive. An aggressive dog is often simply the result of the ineffectiveness of training dogs for obedience and lack of management in the formative years of the puppy.
In other words, if the dog is properly socialized and obedience trained appropriately, and learn to effectively manage his self-control, it could very easily become aggressive to humans and other dogs.
Some personal examples
These are some of the weaknesses of management and training situations, I actually witnessed in my 30 years of dog training: --
 • Dogs that are left in a yard that has a wooden stockade fence and the children with sticks ride on the outside of the fence.
 • managers who think it fun to encourage their young to move up and down a fence with a bark spat with a dog on the other side of the fence.
 • managers who encourage their dogs to show aggression to people who wander past their property.
 • Handlers who think it is fun to teach a puppy to be aggressive while eating a bone.
 • Managers which utterly fail to see Alpha Dog syndrome development and get bitten when you try to remove the dog from the Wicker.
 • managers who train their dogs to hunt squirrels or possums, or rats, but can not stop driving as Pomeranians, Maltese poodles or other small furry creatures.
 • People who think it is fair to discipline their dog is shaking the devil on the skin or physically throwing the dog on the back and holding the animal by the throat.
Many dogs shelter or rescue are considered poorly trained in the basics of obedience training Dog or abused in their formative years and aggression problems may already be in place. This can lead to dogs being returned to the shelter and likely to be euthanized.
